Negative Progress is Good?

I'm, uh, down two pages from last time. Turns out there was a two-and-a-half-page segment in chapter four that just needed to be cut. I had been thinking that there was a superfluous part in that chapter, but hadn't been able to pin it down. My wife identified that chunk, and I knew immediately that she was right. With other edits on chapters three and four, however, about half a page was added back. This cut and the new slightly additions really improves chapter 4, which was slightly weaker than its peers until now.

The stats as of today:
-37,750 estimated words.
-44,782 actual words.
-Six-and-a-half fully-revised-and-expanded chapters (112 pages total).
-Eleven completed chapters in all (151 pages).

What's the difference between your "estimated words" and "actual words"? Is it to do with Word's wordcount and manuscript wordcount?

Check out my post on that here. It's kind of hard to explain...
